八月盛夏,即将入读9、10年级的新生来到爱莎荔湾 2024 衔接营,为即将踏上的国际课程赛道做足准备。而近日,他们以一场盛大的结营仪式,为充实忙碌却欢笑不断的衔接营画上了圆满的句号。
经历两周多元学科、多种主题、多样形式的衔接课程,我们的2024届新生对未来的学习生活都表示信心满满。听听任课老师说,在这14天里,同学们都经历了什么?

In the heat of August, new students entering grades 9 and 10 arrived at The ISA Liwan Transition Camp 2024 to fully prepare themselves for the upcoming international curriculum. Recently, they concluded this fulfilling and busy camp with a grand closing ceremony, marking the end of their two weeks filled with laughter.
Having experienced two weeks of diverse subjects, engaging activities, and innovative learning formats, the incoming 2024 cohort is brimming with confidence about their future academic journey. Let’s hear their teachers’ voice, and see what they experienced during these 14 days?

演讲与辩论
学生们在提升表达流利度和自信心的同时,重点培养其基本演讲技能。他们通过积极参与各种互动游戏和现实生活情境的模拟演练来提升演讲技能,围绕各种话题展开讨论、发表自己的见解,并最终完成了撰写和当众演讲。在不懈努力下,他们的沟通能力得到了显著提升。
Speech & Debate
Students focused on developing basic speaking skills while enhancing their fluency of expression and confidence. They actively in interactive games and simulations of real-life scenarios, enhancing their ability to express themselves effectively. Students debated various topics, presenting their opinions, and ultimately wrote and performed their own speeches. Their efforts led to significant growth in their communication abilities. Well done!

英语学术写作
我们主要向学生介绍如何构建一篇完整的学术论文,学生们通过头脑风暴产生想法、撰写提纲、撰写段落和引言来参与写作过程。在写作过程中,他们的产出都能得到反馈,在反馈中得到提升。总的来说,学生们在课堂上积极参与,合作得很好,英语水平也足以完成学术任务。
Academic Writing
This course provided students with a comprehensive understanding of academic essay structure. Students engaged in the writing process by brainstorming ideas, writing an outline, and composing paragraphs and introductions. Regular feedback on their writing helped them refine their skills. Students were actively engaged in class, worked well together, and had high enough English level to complete the tasks.

通用英语
通用英语课程以雅思考试为框架,涵盖雅思考试的基本知识内容。
听力部分,我们教授学生如何听懂英语新闻、讲座和对话等内容,以及如何掌握英语的发音、语调和节奏,并能够理解不同场景下的语言交流;阅读部分,我们教授学生如何阅读各种类型的文章、提高阅读技巧、理解文章的主旨和细节,并能够根据上下文推断生词的含义。
写作部分,我们教授学生如何根据题目要求写一篇学术论文或议论文,以及如何掌握写作技巧;而口语部分,我们教授学生如何在交流时表达自己的观点,如何掌握流利的口语表达技巧,包括语法、发音和语调等方面。
General English
The General English course was structured around the IELTS exam, covering its basic content.
In the listening section, the course taught students how to understand English news, lectures, and conversations, as well as how to master English pronunciation, intonation, and rhythm, and understand language exchange in different contexts.
In the reading section, the course taught students how to read various types of articles, how to improve reading skills, understand the main ideas and details of the article, and be able to infer the meaning of unknown words based on the context.
In the writing section, the course taught students how to write an academic essay or argumentative essay according to the requirements of the topic, and how to master writing skills.
In the speaking section, the course taught students how to express their opinions during communication, how to master fluent spoken expression skills, including grammar, pronunciation, and intonation.

Individual & Society
students learned valuable skills that would support their academic journey. They focused on effective research methods, compiling reference lists, and utilizing databases to locate sources. Additionally, they analyzed the reliability and usefulness of various sources. These foundational skills were imperative for their success and would be utilized throughout their academic careers. Students were hardworking and I was very pleased with their improvement over the course of the camp in confidence and abilities.

升学指导
升学指导课程希望同学们提高对自身能力和未来规划的认识,为进入新阶段做好了充分的准备。升学课强调了升学指导与日常学习、课外活动和个人成长之间的紧密联系,注重整体高中规划,帮助学生从入学开始就树立长远的目标意识,确保他们能够在高中阶段的各个关键节点上完成升学重点任务。9年级是探索阶段,10年级不断提升阶段,11年级逐渐完善阶段,12年级大学申请阶段。
在讨论海外升学时,老师引导学生们不要将目光局限于传统的留学国家,而是要关注全球范围内的优质教育资源。老师建议学生们多了解不同地区国家的大学,探索这些地方的文化、学术氛围和就业,为自己选择最适合的教育路径。
University Guidance
The university guidance course of the transition camp aims to enhance students’ awareness of their abilities and future planning, ensuring they are fully prepared for the next stage. The course emphasizes the close connection between college guidance and daily studies, extracurricular activities, and personal growth. It focuses on comprehensive high school planning, helping students establish long-term goals from the moment they enter school, ensuring they can complete key tasks at each critical point in their high school journey. Grade 9 is the exploration phase, Grade 10 is the improvement phase, Grade 11 is the refinement phase, and Grade 12 is the university application phase.
When discussing overseas education, teachers encourage students not to limit themselves to traditional study-abroad destinations but to consider quality educational resources globally. Teachers suggest that students learn more about universities in different regions and countries, explore the culture, academic atmosphere, and employment opportunities in these places, and choose the educational path that best suits them.

学生们通过一系列动手活动,让化学概念变得生动有趣。他们首先探索了化学的基础知识以及它在日常生活中的存在,学习了三种物质状态及其相互转换。通过一个有趣的实践活动——制作自己的润唇膏,学生们亲眼观察了熔化、凝固和蒸发过程,从而加深了对这些概念的理解。
随着课程的推进,学生们深入学习了化学反应,特别是氧化还原反应。他们通过创造性的蓝印活动,学习了氧化和还原的概念,自己准备试剂并使用紫外线来印制照片,通过调整曝光时间来更好地理解这一过程。

Chemistry
Students have engaged in a series of hands-on activities that brought key chemical concepts to life. They began by exploring the basics of chemistry and its presence in daily life, learning about the three states of matter and the transitions between them. This understanding was deepened through a fun, practical exercise where they made their own lip balms, observing melting, freezing, and evaporation processes firsthand.
As they progressed, students delved into chemical reactions, focusing on redox reactions. Through a creative cyanotype printing activity, they learned about oxidation and reduction by preparing reagents and using UV light to print photos, experimenting with exposure times to understand the process better.
Students also explored separation techniques, particularly paper chromatography. By conducting experiments with M&M beans, they applied this technique to identify different colorants, reinforcing their understanding of chromatography and its real-world applications, such as in anti-doping tests. These activities have provided students with a solid foundation in chemistry, linking theoretical knowledge to practical experiences.

中文语言与文学
中文课上,学生先后学习了讽刺漫画,海报,广告及电影片段,歌曲的鉴赏,理解视像类文本如何通过色彩,线条,构图,文字,音乐等元素去表达交流目的,传递情感。在学习中先后完成自己创作古风类歌曲(填词),广告/海报的鉴赏,电影片段分析等学习任务。
通过学习,学生能从具体的文本中发现重要的全球性问题,并从全球性背景下去解构文本的艺术表达。在案例分析,小组合作探究,成果展示等课堂活动中学生充分表现出了积极的探究兴趣,积极展现和分享自己的创作成果。在最后的衔接营跨学科成果展示中,学生们从语言与文学的角度设计了”唇膏”的广告词,以一个个精彩的故事赋予了产品人文关怀和温度,设计并阐释了品牌理念,做到学以致用。
Chinese Language and Literature
In Chinese class, students have explored the appreciation of satirical cartoons, posters, advertisements, film clips and songs to understand how visual texts express communication purposes and convey emotions through color, line, composition, text and music. During the learning process, Students will be asked to complete the tasks of composing their own old-fashioned songs (with lyrics), evaluating advertisements/posters and analyzing film clips. Through the study, students will be able to identify important global issues in specific texts and deconstruct the artistic expression of the texts in a global context. In class activities such as case studies, group work and presentations, students show a keen interest in exploring, presenting and sharing their creative work. In the final interdisciplinary presentation of the camp, students designed a slogan for ‘Lipstick’ from the perspective of language and literature, giving the product humanistic care and warmth with a wonderful story, and designing and explaining the brand concept, putting into practice what they had learnt.

经济商务与管理
在商管课中,我们从了解什么是商业开始。同学们通过结合身边的案例,逐步去探索和了解了商业是什么。通过研究具体的商业案例,我们学习了企业运作的不同目的和营销方式。运用小组讨论的方式,同学们去总结分析了711为何会在印度尼西亚失败的原因。这些探究式学习让学生们了解到一家企业的成功与否,会受到很多方面的影响,不仅仅是来自企业内部,还需要更好去适应不断变化的外部环境。这些对企业能否生存或扩张,都有着非常重要的影响。
在经济课堂中,同学们通过经济学的视角去重新观察、探索和分析社会。同学们的角色从商品的消费者切换到商品的生产者,思考如何能为社会提供优质的产品同时实现企业盈利。案例分析和小组讨论活动使同学们的思想碰撞出火花,集思广益地带来了很多有商业价值的想法。
Economics & Business Management
In the business management class, students began by understanding the concept of business. They gradually explored and learned about business by analyzing real-world examples. By studying specific business cases, students learned different business objectives and marketing activities conducted by various organizations. Through group discussion, they discussed and analyzed why 7-Eleven failed in Indonesia. This inquiry-based learning enabled students to understand that the success of an enterprise is influenced by many factors, both internal and external, including adapting to a constantly changing business environment. Those factors all have an impact on the survival or expansion of the enterprise.
In our Economics class, students re-examined, explore and analyze society from the perspective of Economics. The roles of students switch from consumers to producers, thinking about how to provide high-quality products for the society and achieve profitability at the same time. Case analysis and group discussion activities sparked the students’ thoughts and brought a lot of valuable commercial ideas.

数学
衔接营的数学课让学生尽可能多地接触到基于团队合作的IB教学风格,包括学习英文数学专有词汇、实际生活中的例子、小组讨论、多种解题方法等。学生们在了解课程要求后,如何充分利用他们的已有知识来更好地表现。总体来说,数学课对于学生们最大的挑战在于他们的英语能力,他们也认识到持续提升语言水平的重要性和必要性。正如课堂上所强调的,我希望所有学生在今后的学习中能够有条理且有计划地进行,并更加努力地提高他们的英语能力。
Mathematics
The transition camp math class was conducted in a way so that students can have maximum exposure to IB style of teaching based on team work, learning math vocabulary, real life examples, group discussions, problem solving with different approaches, etc. Students were also informed about class requirements and how best to use their prior knowledge to excel and perform better. The biggest challenge in general was their English language ability and they understood the importance and need of continuously working on improving. As emphasized during class, I hope that all students will have an organized and well planned approach towards studies in general and will work harder on improving their English abilities.

Academic and Thinking Skills (ATL)
Students learned to apply goal-setting strategies based on the SMART principles to their planning. Starting with building a collaborative team culture, they created an interconnected and supportive classroom environment. Students were guided to identify their personal strengths and explore their unique aspects of identity. Under the teacher’s guidance, they specified their goals, determine how to measure progress, assess the feasibility of the goals given their resources, confirm their relevance to personal priorities, and set an appropriate timeframe. Through this structured process, students gradually transformed their aspirations into concrete, actionable plans.

艺术中心课程
在衔接营的艺术课堂中,学生们学习了拼贴艺术的四种创意手法、图案设计中的剪影观察法、版画雕刻技术,以及“一分钟雕塑”的概念与创作。他们通过实践,不仅掌握了这些艺术技法,还在拼贴创作中结合“Body Parts”和“梦境”主题,设计出独具特色的作品。在图案设计课程中,学生们运用所学方法,完成了从图案母体到品牌包装的设计。通过版画和藏书票的制作,学生们精细雕刻,体验了印刷的过程。最后,在“一分钟雕塑”工作坊中,学生们全身心投入,创作出富有个人表达的雕塑作品,并成功完成了布展,展示了他们在独立创作和团队合作中的综合能力提升。
Arts Center Courses
The transition camp’s art classes provided students with a hands-on exploration of various artistic techniques. They learned four creative collage techniques, silhouette observation in pattern design, printmaking techniques, and the concept of the “One Minute Sculpture.” Through hands-on practice, they not only mastered these techniques but also created unique works, combining themes like “Body Parts” and “Dreamscapes” in their collage projects. In pattern design, they applied learned methods to complete designs from basic motifs to brand packaging. Through printmaking and ex libris design, students engaged in detailed carving and experienced the printing process. Finally, in the “One Minute Sculpture” workshop, students fully immersed themselves in creating expressive sculptures, culminating in a successful exhibition that showcased their growth in both independent creation and teamwork.

体育
在衔接营的体育课中,学生们通过有趣的团队游戏、中等强度的体能训练以及基础的体操动作学习中表现出色,不仅培养了团结和团队精神,同时也提高了他们的协调性、敏捷性、耐力和力量。他们尝试新事物和挑战自己的勇气,这令人鼓舞。他们面对挑战的每一步都反映了他们的个人成长,展示出了他们顽强的韧性和快速适应能力。
PE
In the physical education classes of the transition camp, students excel through fun team games, moderate-intensity physical training, and basic gymnastic movement learning, not only developing unity and team spirit, but also improving their coordination, agility, endurance, and strength. Their courage to try new things and challenge themselves is encouraging. Every step they take in the face of a challenge is a reflection of their personal growth, demonstrating their tenacious resilience and ability to adapt.

CCA (辅助课程)
在CCA的国际象棋学习中,同学们掌握了国际象棋的基本规则和策略,他们不仅仅是在学习如何下棋,更是在学习如何思考、如何决策。同学们尝试着从不同的角度审视棋盘,跳出传统的思维框架,寻找创新的解决方案。
同学们通过棋局探讨策略,分享彼此的见解和思路,这样的学习无疑拓宽了同学们的思路和表达,他们的批判性思维和创新能力也在棋局中得到培养。
CCA (辅助课程)
In the international chess learning within the CCA, students mastered the basic rules and strategies of chess. They were not only learning how to play chess but also how to think and make decisions. Students tried to view the chessboard from different angles, stepping out of traditional thinking frameworks to find innovative solutions. Through discussing strategies and sharing their insights and ideas, this type of learning undoubtedly broadened students’ thinking and expression, while also developing their critical thinking and creativity during the chess games.

ECA (拓展课程)
在ECA戏剧课程期间,学生的英语口语和阅读能力显著提高,并且从一开始就展现出了明显的热情。我们首先观看了各种戏剧,并开始研究如何使用肢体语言,包括手势、面部表情、姿势和动作,来与呈现在我们面前的各种作品进行互动。我们还练习了不同的声乐技巧,研究语速、音调、重点、语气和停顿,以传达清晰的人物形象,吸引观众。
第一周结束时,我们挑选了闭幕式的表演片段,包括《麦克白》中的两个片段,以及《哈姆雷特》的简化版。在整个过程中,我们研究了人物关系,如何在整部作品中营造氛围和紧张感,以及如何通过几种排练技巧来完善我们的角色塑造。到第二周结束时,学生们已经创作出了两部精彩的作品,这两部作品都对所有参与学生的表演能力提出了挑战,并使之得到了提升。
闭幕式的表演取得了巨大成功,这是他们在整个过程中辛勤付出和积极进取的结果。我非常期待这些学生在爱莎荔湾未来几年里所取得的成就。
ECA (拓展课程)
Over the course of ECA drama, students significantly developed their oral English speaking and reading skills and demonstrated a clear sense of enthusiasm throughout the ECA from the first second. To begin we looked at a variety of plays and began to look at how we use physicality with gestures, facial expressions, posture, and movement to interact with the variety of pieces that were put before us. We also engaged with applying different vocal techniques, looking at pace, pitch, emphasis, tone, and pauses to deliver a clear sense of character that would engage the audience.
At the end of the first week , we picked our performance pieces for the closing ceremony, looking at 2 extracts from Macbeth, as well as a shortened version of Hamlet. Throughout the process, we looked at character relationships, how we could establish atmosphere and tension throughout, and improve our characterisation throughout several rehearsal techniques. By the end of the second week, students had developed 2 fantastic pieces that both challenged and heightened the acting ability of all students involved. The performance at the closing ceremony was a great success and was a credit to their hard work and motivation throughout the whole process. I’m very much looking forward to what these students will achieve in the coming years at ISA Liwan International School.

同学们以自信的姿态,大方地向到场来宾介绍这两周的学科学习成果。知识要点以美观清晰的视觉化形式呈现在大屏幕,结论思考以简洁并富有逻辑的学术语言表述,专业和博学的背后,是学生们努力学习、归纳反思、探究成长的厚积薄发。
学生代表以真挚的发言,回顾了两周充实的学习经历,表达了对国际课程和爱莎理念的深刻理解和认同。广州荔湾爱莎文华学校副校长(国际方向)王玉梅校长的发言则充满了鼓励与期待,她对学生们在衔接营中的表现给予了高度评价,并希望他们在未来的学习生活中继续发扬爱莎精神,不断追求卓越。
At the closing ceremony, students, teachers, and parents gathered in the Auditorium to collectively review the highlights and gains from the past two weeks.
Students confidently introduced their academic achievements from the past two weeks to the guests in attendance. The key points of knowledge were presented on the big screen in a visually appealing and clear manner, and conclusions were expressed in concise and logically structured academic language. Behind this professionalism and erudition lies the students’ hard work, reflection, and in-depth exploration.
A student representative gave a heartfelt speech, recalling the fulfilling learning experiences of the past two weeks and expressing a deep understanding and recognition of the international curriculum and ISA’s philosophy. Ms. Myra Wang, Deputy Head of ISA Wenhua Liwan School (International), gave an encouraging and hopeful speech. She highly praised the students’ performance during the transition camp and hoped that they would continue to carry forward the ISA spirit and pursue excellence in their future studies.

聚光灯下,同学们为到场的老师及亲友呈现了精心排练的表演。神秘的集体魔术表演点燃全场氛围,初次登台的他们展现出稳健的台风,引得观众阵阵惊叹;戏剧表演生动有趣,以才华与热情,将观众带进了莎士比亚的经典中。
我们注重英语深度学习,听说读写能力全面提高;提供以学生为中心的升学规划和人文心智关怀;通过户外营地活动,赋能学生,在大自然中培养团队协作和问题解决能力;并在国际化教育氛围下,培养批判性思维,激发潜能,发展个性。
经过两周的衔接营,我们欣喜地看到学生的成长和蜕变。他们在学科中,以探究和启发,获得学术提升;在动手实践中,点燃创意和思维碰撞的火花;在团队协作中,以交流磨合凝聚集体的力量。
Under the spotlight, the students presented a well-rehearsed performance for the teachers and family members in attendance. A mysterious group magic show electrified the atmosphere, with the students showcasing their strong stage presence, earning astonished reactions from the audience. The lively and interesting drama performances brought the audience into the world of Shakespeare’s classics through the students’ talent and passion.
